Jimbaran Hijau Foundation (YJH) and PT Bank JTrust Indonesia Tbk (J Trust Bank) collaborated in mangrove planting activities in the Kelan Mangrove Forest, Kelan Kangin Beach, Tuban, Badung Regency. This activity is one of a series of events from Jimbafest 2023, with the theme ‘Agha Kerthi Jagadhita’ or ‘Efforts to Protect Nature for a Prosperous Earth’.
This mangrove planting activity aims to reduce the carbon emission footprint of Jimbafest 2023 and J Trust Bank activities. One Jimbafest 2023 event combined with one of J Trust Bank’s anniversary celebration activities, is equivalent to 3 tonnes of CO2, which can be compensated by planting at least 250 trees a year.
By planting 1,000 mangroves, both parties not only compensate for emissions from these activities, but also make a significant positive contribution to efforts to reduce overall environmental carbon emissions.
Mangrove trees were chosen because they have great ecosystem benefits, including protecting beaches from abrasion, providing habitat for marine fauna, and improving water quality. Apart from that, mangrove trees are also known as efficient natural carbon stores.
“In accordance with the main theme of the 2023 Jimbafest activity, planting mangrove trees is not only a step to replace carbon emissions, but also a long-term investment in environmental sustainability,” said Yusea Eka Prasetya, Acting Chair of YJH as Jimbafest Advisor.
Meanwhile, Ridyawan Amnar as Corporate Secretary Division Head of J Trust Bank explained that the mangrove planting action was an action to protect the environment to welcome National Tree Planting Day which falls every November 28.
“We see the same mission as Jimbafest 2023 regarding actions to protect the environment. “And this activity also coincides with J Trust Bank’s 8th anniversary,” said Ridyawan Amnar.
The mangrove planting activity was attended by around 100 people from various circles, including representatives from YJH, J Trust Bank, and the general public. The participants seemed enthusiastic in planting mangroves.
With this activity, both parties hope that this mangrove tree planting activity will become an example for the entire community in supporting zero carbon emissions efforts and can play an active role in creating a cleaner, greener and more sustainable environment.
