The art exhibition “Pusaran Eksplorasi” by artist Agus Kama Loedin collaborated with Jhub Art Space (Jimbaran Hijau) which took place at Locca Sea House, Jimbaran, Bali. This art exhibition was officially opened on Monday (6/11/2023) at Locca Sea House Jimbaran Bali which was combined with a musical performance by Nova Ruth and a collaboration with Otniel Tasman and Jasmine Okubo. This exhibition was inaugurated by Christianto Tjahyadi accompanied by Dr. Putu Agung Prianta and Nicolaus Kuswanto.
The exhibition will be held from November 6 to December 6, 2023. This is Agus Kama Loedin’s first solo exhibition after the post-Covid-19 pandemic period. This exhibition is a significant event in the world of fine art, showcasing two major streams of his unique creativity, namely abstract photography and wire-based works.
This exhibition marks Agus Kama Loedin’s return to Bali after a harrowing lockdown period with his family in the Philippines during the pandemic. Agus has had a thriving art career in the Philippines, and now he returns with an increased passion to share his work with the Balinese community. Agus also plans to live in Bali, making the island his new “creative home.”
According to Agus Kama Loedin, the “Pusaran Eksplorasi” exhibition depicts Agus Kama Loedin’s creative journey from the past to the present. In this exhibition, there are two major streams of creativity, namely photography-based works and wire-based works. Agus’s photographic works challenge traditional perceptions of photography with abstract or semi-abstract images. He uses montage and mirroring techniques to create stunning compositions and present visual enigmas, he said.
Apart from photography, I also create innovative works of art using wire. These works redefine traditional concepts of sculpture by showing that sculpture can take various forms, including hanging on walls like paintings. Agus combines formal elements with subjective expression to create works that are unique and full of creative anxiety, said Agus.
Meanwhile, Putu Agung Prianta as the founder of Jhub Art Space by Jimbaran Hijau said that his party admitted that they were very enthusiastic this time to be able to collaborate with Agus Kama Loedin, to prepare an extraordinary art exhibition. Several of Agus’ works in this exhibition voice ecological issues, cultural heritage, and spirituality amidst changing times.
“This exhibition is a rare opportunity to experience the richness and complexity of the creativity of an artist who has explored the world, with bold works of art. In this opening, we also present a musical performance by Nova Ruth and a collaboration with Otniel Tasman and Jasmine Okubo,” said Agung Prianta accompanied by Nicolaus Kuswanto.
Agus’ works are not only visually appealing, but also carry a deep message. Some of his works voice ecological issues, cultural heritage, and spirituality amidst changing times. Agus brings visual ideas and discursive messages together in his works, providing a fresh perspective on the issues encountered in his works.
